Hi I would be grateful for some help in selecting an lnr bullet camera from those with first hand experience .
I wish to keep check on vehicles using a private way using a camera positioned around 8 ft high though a cutout in the facia board .It will look slightly to the side of direct line of sight along road.for 30m
Would prefer to records to SD card as there should be minimal activations between inspection events but would like the option to incorporate into a larger system in the future.
IP 66 or 67 essential plus minimal Led glow as possible .

These cameras are not cheap, the angle could affect the ability of the read.
It will probably still capture the plate but Plate to Text feature may have errors.

If you know the angles involved you need to look at what cameras are capable of high accuracy read at that angle.

In general, the cameras are low resolution but high frame rate, they are designed to read day or night.

Thanks for that, the angle I guess would be slightly less than 10°from straight on so not a lot I would hope?
I do realize these would be a significant purchase which is why I want to get it right .

You said:
"Would prefer to records to SD card as there should be minimal activations between inspection events ..." which suggests to me that this will be at a remote location.

You do know that these cameras require a continuous power supply?

Well I have found it cheaper than my suppliers list price on line and they are waiting for it to be delivered so won't hold my breath finding it cheaper elsewhere or not significantly so.

Hmm just emailed one of my suppliers and surprised I got a bounce back from one of the managers suggesting that they would personally be back in about 4 weeks time.
I know many of the others went on a very limited opening times several weeks ago.

I would check based on that, the availability of the item for immediate dispatch by whomever you are looking at supplying you if you need it and check that they are an authorised distributor/reseller with Hikvision directly to avoid grey imports or fakes.

Well what you stuck on?

I can make it worse for you, I am looking at a IP 4MP color vu with 6mm lens.(about 1/5th of the price of a ANPR) but does work like an anpr either.

Now day time its easy to read the plates, on a night time its too early to tell how reliable it is yet, as front headlights for many vehicles appear okay but for some not so clever.

That said have been able to make improvements in its ability to see the number plates clearly enough but the angles and distances arent the best to start with.

if the camera was facing a long track I am sure it would fair much better.
