LED Floodlight Woes

Hi people, I changed all of our outside Halogen Floodlights to LED many years ago thinking it would be cheaper and not require yearly bulb changes. I was wrong!

All purchased from Screwfix at a cost of around £30 a time. They all lasted a year or 2 before they gave up.

Thankfully Screwfix gave a warranty which they stuck to and gave a new unit in exchange for the broken one. Only problem was that you had to change the entire light and wire it in. This has gone on for several years now and I'd had enough of it.

So now I've gone back to the old 500w units but fitted LED bulbs which you can change instead of the entire unit! Comments please...

Fitted an osram ledvance led floodlight about 5 years ago and no issues.
Pretty sure you can change the leds in them and the drivers.

I was presented with an Aldi quartz lamp by my wife, and fitted a LED module, however it got water in it as no heat to dry out, but a small hole cured the problem so water could drain out, and the PIR was adjustable.

The Screwfix unit 10 watt fitted to dads garage worked until house sold, around 2 years but needed tape over sensor to reduce sensitivity.

So this house has two quartz lamps and I intend to change to LED, lock down stopped me. I have considered options and think the PIR is rather useless idea, as they turn off premature and/or triggured by trees.

So looking at wifi and time triggure. However you make a good point being able to renew bulb however I have found in the past the screws corrode so can't change bulb anyway, to think a junction box so easy to renew is maybe way to go.

Copper slip is better, but in the main lamps do not last that long anyway.
