My Lidl trouser have outlived many others. Have you actually used a pair? The Aldi pair were pretty rubbish, I'll give you that!

I thought this was a DIY forum...

yes my mistake. please accept my sincere apologies for causing offence to you and your trousers.
I would not have commented if i’d not wasted money on said trousers which ripped around the crotch from knee to knee while I was on a job.
You are correct of course, it is a diy forum and I made the mistake of reading teaboyjims other posts which suggest his projects are slightly more involved than ‘diy’.

I have had plastic buttons pop off yes, but that's more to do with me being overweight and the trousers suddenly shrinking on me :)
I know the feeling :)

I've learned to try to look for value for money with reasonable quality. I'm doing the building and refurbishment work full time now

Oh my God - apparently there's been a crotch ripping experience. Just saying but where was nigel when this happened

OP, wear anything thats old and comfortable - wear it with a good belt.
Most of these expensive pants are famous because they are famous.

If you need some warm quality winter trousers then I can recommend engelbert-strauss E.S Motion winter trousers .

FWIW I have a pair of dickies o now, bought them in 2017 and this is their first outing.
They came from Asda and cost me less than a tenner (on sale).
Too long and they have the metal stud, the leg pocket is on the other side to how I normally like them.
Not impressed - I prefer my dickies from Winfields.

I've still got some lidl trousers that have done really well. My aldi trousers failed at the seam quite quickly. My favourite trousers are Dickies which are good value. I've had a few "new" ones from ebay quite cheap.
I've given up buying cheap clothes as they tend to be false economy

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284001597274 I've worn these for years, I tend to get 18 months out of a pair before changing them, that's wearing them 2 or 3 days a week. The waist size is undersized so a 36" is a 38", 34 is 36 and so on. The inside leg is stitched inside so can be adjusted to suit.
What are they like for warmth in winter

There always about that price, I've never had any issue with the buttons coming away, I've been wearing them for the last 8 years and think I've had 6 pairs in total and I'm hard on them. I do all my DIY stuff in them, I work on cars in them, so a lot of crawling about on tarmac and I'm a maintenance engineer by trade so spend a lot of time crawling around machinery in them and they stand up to it all well
I might get a few pairs of those.

I've had the same prob - prefer the metal stud type button as it's more solid :)

Edit: Replied to your comment twice

I might just get a few pairs of those. So for sizes I have to order the size above the size I need so 34 is 36 has that always been the case?
Are the fly buttons definitely a solid metal pop rivet like the ones you get with Levis 501s?

Just order the one pair to try them, there always on ebay the only thing that changes is the colours available.

The sizing has always been out since I've bought them. I find them fine in the cold but I grew up in the North East so don't really feel the cold.

I ordered 2 pairs the other day, I think it was £22 with postage/multibuy discounts. I'm currently wearing old shorts and freezing as I have ahem outgrown my work trousers.
