Advice on accessing roof with ladder

Hi there

I've got a cracked roof tile on the side aspect of my roof which has slipped.

i'm hoping to get to it to replace it by getting my ladders up against the back of the house which will allow me to reach round and replace it - see picture attached.

Just after a bit of advice on the best place to put my ladder. We've got hanging tiles on the back face of the house. Do you think i would be ok to lean my ladder up against the hanging tiles? the last think i want to do is crack one of those and make an even bigger job. was thinking I could wrap some old towels round the top of the ladder to spread the pressure on the tiles possibly?

Unfortunately the facia board isn't wide enough for me to get lean both ends of the ladder on.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

but considering doing it myself hence the request for advice on a DIY site.

It's a long way down, and if you fell you would not be getting up.

Some jobs are worth trying a bit of diy, some are not worth the risk.

Text this picture to various roofers and get a price.

Spanning over the extension will put the ladder at too much of an acute angle, on top of decking as well.

That is an unusual place to access for someone without roofing experience.

Is that skylight on the extension roof fully tilting?
If so, you could put the ladder through it.

That would need to be one long ladder to reach that, let alone the low angle it will be, and oh the bounce!

Looks like it will need to be the side and up the tiles you go like a mountain goat.

Definitely a job for an experienced professional with the right access equipment.

Thanks guys. In hindsight, perhaps it was a bit risky for me to do myself.

Instead I held the ladder and sent my wife up. 5 minute job in the end. She pulled out the cracked tile and popped the new on in... so all sorted now.
