Service valve basic question

Hi,

Just wondering what is going on here. I have been sent an image from my son's house. Quite a recent build of about 5 years. Wet/leak under the cistern.
Initial thought was leaky corroded shutoff valve, simple enough but looking closer it doesn't look right. Looks like it may have been soldered into the top of the valve unless there is a valve witha tap type connection.

Any thoughts please.

It's a service valve ,and a tap extension is between it and the float valve tail.

Tap extension or female iron/copper connector ( chromed) possibly the end cut through the fibre washer on the service valve.

Could also be a integrated NRV adapter, the type used in shower hoses. Take the whole lot off and check the connections and fibre/rubber washer and what they used to seal the adapter to the fill valve tail, could be leaky PTFE tape.

Thanks, whole lot will be coming off. Just wanted to be sure of what I was looking at first.

That does look like its been soldered, seen them fail there before.

Surely it's would have been so much easier to replace that rather than solder it??

Hopefully it might just be build up as that's been leaking for a while and now it's just getting worse.

Didn't realise service valves come in different 'flavours'.
I now have this. Which has standard olive 15mm connection at one end and 1/2" tap connector at the other.
Looks like straight swap for the original.

That's pretty much what is there presently.
