Supermarket staff are still working dealing with hundreds of customers in a typical day and thousands going through stores ...... If teachers want to go on strike fine but stop their pay.

The Government dumped testing onto secondary school and college heads- nothing apart from a powerpoint slide and some documents. They are not trained to do this or even given extra budget to do it.

Schools are not unsafe for children but the issue is they can be made safer for children and staff if the Government is willing to spend more doing it.

Yes they would.

Gasbanni doesn't appreciate many teachers have had no time off since last Christmas.

Many of them had to work over summer and other holidays to instigate Covid protocols.

In my village school there were staff in today.


Zoom is very hard work, loads more prep for teachers, loads more hours.

The new strain has a higher transmission rate amongst primary aged school children, as yet we do not know whether it has a more sever effect on them.

Her teacher whos South African was brilliant with the kids. All so young and not familiar with zoom he was do patient. This time I would imagine will be that much better....

The Aussies have been doing this via radio for years.

All my supermarket staff wear ppe, work behind screens, and don't have physical contact with the customers.

Supermarket Staff have more PPE and sanitisers than School Teachers .

My partner works in a primary school and I am 'at risk', isolating at home just as much as I can. The school she works in are doing there best, but kids are kids and just don't appreciate or understand the risks. Social distancing is ignored by kids, even the older ones.

I don't have a problem with remote teaching as long as they actually do it. My kids school seem to think its OK to just give them home work to do. Sorry but the rest of the world has learned to work on Zoom, so should schools. Run at least half the class schedule on zoom and they will actually get some work done. Given them homework and its not the same at all.

I don’t blame them. I won’t even be considering going back to work until it’s calmed down or I’m fully jabbed up. Kids are the super spreaders of this virus and the kids I teach often have no parental supervision so are the type that are out all night mixing with all sorts. I can’t even teach from the comparative safety of the front of a class room - I’m under bonnets and under cars with students in close proximity which is too close for comfort in my mind which is the same for most vocational training. If there’s no demand for my services when/if I return, so be it, I’ll consider retirement. Money won’t help if you cop the virus so I’d be prepared to go without but Rishi is being kind to me.
