Side elevation extend off garage

If the garage is part of the original house is permitted development rules for side extension from the red line or the green?

I'll say the green line. Although when I had a similar project a couple of years ago I realised that there is no definitive guidance and I had to resort to searching for evidence to try to support the argument that an original attached garage is classed as the "dwellinghouse". I didn't find much but luckily for me the planning officer accepted it without too much persuasion. I would imagine if you had a more awkward planning officer that they could insist on it being the red line.
