It is once again a time where I must call upon the experts at DIYnot
So the 2 taps on my bathroom sink are rotten and need replacing, I know this...
But I've recently just popped out the plastic inserts (called flow straighteners?) as they were disgusting and impossible to clean thoroughly - One covered in limescale and one covered in black stuff.
Lets say I never replace these taps, are there any other negative affects of having these inserts removed, other than the water not coming out as straight? (which it didn't anyway due to constant build up of disgusting stuff).
I had to do something as I brush my teeth using this sink and I hate to think what that black stuff might have been. Photos attached.
Also, are the taps meant to be brown and green inside?
PS: What's the chances of me finding replacement plastic inserts? I reckon 2/10 chance
Thanks everyone.
