Daughter has just moved into flat, and the kitchen and bathroom sink taps appear to have an insert in them, with holes in. This restricts the flow, especially as they need de-scaling. Are such items normally removable, as I have never seen such before? I do not really see the need for them. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank-you.

Once I had scraped all the limescale off, they unscrewed easily. Then soaked in vinegar for some time, all the small holes then clear, and now flowing well.
