I have a good quality brass internal door flap / tidy / whatever it is called, and it is too wide. It needs to be cut, so that it is an inch more narrow. What kind of professional service should I search for to do a good job? nb I am in South London.

In case anyone wants to know, it is a very good wooden door, about eighty years old. It has a very small "rectangular hole" for letters, but for whatever reason, I don't seem to be able to find something with insulative brushes/flap that fits - and I have searched a lot. So, I found a company to make the brushes part (received and glued on), and found an oversized flap. Thanks.

A carpenter will be able to make the letter box opening bigger but it sounds like you want someone to cut down the flap.

Can you provide photos?

I can't now because I've glued the brushes over it. Basically, the hole in the door is 5 inches wide, 2 inches high. the door thickness is just under two inches. Because of the panelling on the door, the max width of the flap is about 10 inches.

I did actually order a custom-made flap, but I didn't measure it correctly. It took them 6 weeks to deliver, and I'm sort of reluctant to use them again.
