How much should this fencing job cost?

Hi, I want to replace this run of rotten fencing down the side of my garden - it will also involve taking away some broken concrete posts.

I've been quoted £2200 - surely not? I know the materials (assuming 4ft standard panels which cost £22 at Wickes) will come to a few hundred pounds, but how much should this job cost?

Many thanks

Those Wicks panels are the very cheapest, worst quality one, but £2200 is well over the top for the job. I would expect a price of 1/2 to 1/3 of that - maybe they don't want the job?

Are they a reputable company - not from Checkatrade or the like I hope?

Thanks Harry - Yes I think he was a chancer but he did come from checkatrade. I'll be getting a couple of other quotes. Thanks for the info re: Wickes. Where would you recommend and how much should I be paying for them?

Not a lot of information

Suitable access? Replace all the posts, panels and dispose of waste?
Gravel boards? Concrete or timber? Decent panels?

A couple of grand is expensive but a £22 wickets panel is crap, and you'd pay the same rate to someone fitting it v a decent one

Thank you all - that's really helpful. I'll make sure to find out about suitable fence panels and probably go to a decent timber yard. In terms of other in, it's to replace all posts panels and dispose waste, yes. I just need wooden posts, not concrete and would be very happy with 6 wide x 4ft high panels with gravel boards for longevity. Not looking for anything fancy, just durable and well made.

I'd go to a fencing yard.
The yard I use sell only fencing/sheds and deliver locally
Afaik they also do installation but seem to be a supplier mainly

I paid £3405 for 31 close board fence panels (25 6x5 boards with 8ft posts, and 6 6x3 boards with 6ft posts), with concrete gravel boards (sometimes 2 as on a slope). That included removal of old short concrete fence posts, and chain-link fence.

So about £110 for each fence board+post+gravel board

Took 2 people about 3 or 4 days I think (can't really remember and I was not home at the time, but my wife said they worked hard).

Thanks - that's really helpful. I have about 6 panels. If you're anywhere near North London then very happy to take your people's number!

Shop around for a few more quotes, hopefully somebody will come back with a better quote.
If they need a skip for the old fence that might be another £200, although my job included skip too now I think about it

I assume this job's done now?
What did it cost you in the end?
We've recently been quoted £100 a metre for fencing. Consistent with two or three companies.
In the end we did the job ourselves for less than half that!. It's labour generally, that costs.
