Yale HSA6200, too long before alarm goes off

Hi I have a yale Hsa6200
It’s taking about 30 seconds before the siren goes off
It used to be immediately when setting them opening the door or walking past the sensor
I have tried all new batteries and reset it’s still to slow in responding
Any help would be grateful

JohnD is the Yale expert to ask.

if the programming hasn't changed, then the environment or the devices have.

So have you changed the programming?
As anything changed recently, new alarms, wireless thermostat low battery, street lamps faulty, just slow response could be a sign of radio jamming, but cant be certain.

HSA6200 is a keypad-operated one, with the "brains" in the siren box, and no control panel.

I have used these, but can hardly remember.

Are you opening the front door, or triggering one of the other sensors?

Are you using keyfobs, or just the keypad? IIRC the behaviour is different if you use the fob, in case a ne'erdowell has found or stolen a fob and tries to disarm the alarm before forcing a door or window. But I may be thinking of a different model.

The HSA6200 does not have a "home set" where you might arm the doors, but still be able to move around inside the house. (paragraph edited)

Page 9 of the instructions (2010 edition)

Arming the system
Keypad/Keyfob: Press arm
(The siren will beep and flash once. There will be no audible
countdown.)

• Keypad will arm the system with a 20 seconds
exit period. All detectors will be ignored (except
for the tamper switches). The system can be
armed when inside the protected area of your
premises.

• Keyfob will arm the system instantly without a
20 second exit delay. Any detector activated
afterwards will trigger an instant alarm. The
system should be armed when outside the
protected area of your premises.

Disarming the system
Keypad: Press disarm followed by your pincode.
Keyfob: Press disarm.
(The siren will beep and flash twice.)

• Keypad: If the system has been armed with a
keypad there will be a 20 second entry period
started when the first detector is activated
(usually a window/door contact on the main
point of entry). During this entry period all
detectors will be ignored. The siren will beep
once when the first detector is triggered.
• If the system is not disarmed before the entry
period expires, the alarm will be activated.
• The system does not have an audible
countdown during the entry period.
• Keyfob: If the system has been armed with a
keyfob there will be no 20 second entry period
and any detector activation will give an instant
alarm.
• The system should be disarmed from outside
the protected area of your premises.

I tried this but when I got to no 6
It does not work the siren does not beep
Thought it may be the key pad so bought a new one
Read instructions how to add a new accessory
Now not sure what to do because the siren isn’t even beeping when adding the new keypad
Don’t know what else to do

can you run through what you did to add the new keypad, please.

does the siren ever react in any way (flash or bleep) to either of the keypads, or to your keyfob.

did you take the siren off the wall and put it on the table next to you while you did the "Learn?"

how old are the batteries?

No couldn’t get past point 5 on the quick set up
Th siren didn’t beep on point 6

we went to change the battery just incase and it broke
So bought a new one

so we tried to program the new key pad
But didn’t work

If the old keypad doesn't work, and you want to add a new one, I think you have to start the installation from scratch, loading everything as new.

IIRC the "quick setup" includes resetting the system to factory status, but I'm not sure. Can you see a separate "system reset" instruction?

It will be much easier if you take the siren off the wall and have it in the room with you, because you have to change its settings while you work. Put a pillow over the siren to muffle the noise.

I am going to try again this afternoon
I’ve been reading the manual and I will start as if it’s the first installation
When I add the keypad the first time should I use the default pin of 0000 or my existing pin
