I had my second dead shingles jab on Tuesday, two months after the first, as advised. I had zero reaction to the first, but yesterday, the day after the jab, I felt quite 'delicate'. I'd had a night of interrupted sleep, lucid dreams, restless due to the injection point being slightly sore and then at 4am, I managed to roll out of bed, which is quite high from the floor.

Yesterday I was quite achy in my muscles, slight headache, quite tired and I went to bed at 8pm.

I'm fine today, just a slightly 'woolly' head.

I guess the Victorians where doing it right then?

Not heard of shingle jab, my brother gets shingles quite often , doesn't seem to give him immunity

Nor had I, until I researched it and asked why I hadn't been offered it and the pneumonia one. If you had chickenpox as a youngster, most people did, then you stand a good chance of it returning in later life as shingles, which can be very painful, quite debilitating. There is a live vaccine and (they said) a much more expensive dead one, I had to have the dead one.

Had shingle at 11 years of age, but know it can return.

Shingles, still have the scars , apparently more serious in children and elderly .
Pretty sure you had, what is called in children, chicken pox.

Shingles is caused by the same virus, but it's only called shingles in adults, or when it returns after an initial infection of chicken pox

Both caused by the Varicella zoster virus that stays dormant in your nervous system after childhood chickenpox.

When you have chickenpox, the virus hides from your immune system, and under the right conditions re-emerges as shingles when you're an adult

Edit, I still have my chickenpox scars

You can get shingles at any age once you have had chicken pox .I had chicken pox along with siblings at about 5 .
My brother has regular reoccurrence due to immune problems .
Scars from shingles are large and almost white around the torso , you nerve endings explode onto your skin , which is why it’s painful .
