Hi,

Hoping someone can offer some insight as to what this pipe is, we moved into the house a few years ago, and have never seen anything come out of it

It is adjacent to a conservatory, below floor level of the house and the room direct behind is a living room. The brick wall to the left is the next door neighbours house.

I don't have access do it to check materials

There are no bathrooms, toilets or gas appliances even remotely close to the pipe

Any ideas?

I dont have access to it, but looks to be plastic to me

in that case it looks like a 32mm waste pipe to me

unless its an old toilet overflow pipe -have you got a toilet in a room beyond the room that is the other side of that wall?

as its open, Its got to be redundant -unless an overflow

my guess is should have been sorted when the conservatory went up

I see what might be two pipes, a narrow black one, then a fatter very obvious white definite pipe. Assumming the white - If it emerges from under the floor, might it have been a one time drain for a downstairs toilet wash basin, where the toilet has and room has since been done away with, or the location changed? You would need to lift floor boards, to find out where it went/goes.

Room directly behind is a living room which its the whole depth of the house, nowhere near a toilet or any sink

The conservatory was in place when we moved in, we are looking to extend on the back so figuring out thing like what the hell this is and location of drains etc

Concrete floor so no floor boards to lift to look

Maybe previous owners remodelled downstairs and it was once a kitchen, or there was a WC there years ago?

Does it go into the ground, or stop above? It could be a DIY conduit for electric cables if it goes into the ground - do you have any sheds or outbuildings with electric?

Hi,

Not directly relevant!
But if you did want to investigate the pipe further, often the sealed units in conservatory glazing are relatively easy to remove - just have a search for 'deglazing a sealed unit' in YouTube for some info :)
