Video Doorbell

Hi there, I purchased a doorbell and it has suddenly decided not to work. I am not sure why but I think there is a disruption between my wifi and doorbell. It is only compatible with 2.ghz.

Does anyone know a decent video doorbell that will be compatible with 5ghz? (My budget is not much and the max price I can go up to is £50.

Hi,
I've found that problems like this can be reduced if you rename your SSID for the different bands.
I.e. have myWiFi and myWiFi5GHz.
That way there is no chance of the IoT stuff trying, and failing to connect to the wrong band (which can happen if both bands share the same SSID! ).

I literally didn't get a word of this. I am so confused. It use to work fine before, past few days my wifi connection has been poor so my ISP reset everything so it has a full reboot.

Now it fails to connect at all.

Has your WiFi password been reset to the default?

Your WiFi network has a name - this is the SSID.
Most modern routers are dual band - but the different bands share the same network name.
This can be useful, as if you walk around your house, your laptop may use the faster 5GHz network when closer to the router, but then when you move away, the laptop will automatically switch to the 2.4GHz band (for better signal strength) without reconnecting.
The problem is, some 2.4GHz devices get confused trying to connect to a WiFi network that has multiple bands with the same network name.

...so, if you feel brave, you can investigate the router settings and change the name of the WiFi networks for the different bands.

Does that make more sense?

Makes sense slightly

I use a wifi extender because the connection is poor upstairs and the signal doesn’t reach one of the bedrooms. It is already set to ….2gEXT so I know which one to connect to.

The problem is my doorbell is the issue now. Because I want to use 5ghz my doorbell will not accept that.

I need help in terms of what to do.

I don’t understand because when I first purchased the doorbell it connected successfully and I was connected to the extender

If your device only works with 2.4 GHz it will not connect to 5GHz.
Have you reset the door bell before you tried to re connect?

Yes reset and followed full instructions still doesn’t work. It was working so fine until the connection got disrupted

Yes I did reboot the extender, that is what caused the disruption I think
