A glass of wine and a slice of birthday cake.

So in effect we've witnessed a coup where the job of the three biggies in politics have gone to remainers.
Prime minister Truss remainer.
Chancellor Hunt remainer
Home office Shapps remainer.
UK politicians are finally waking up to brexit

Im sure if brexit is a great success, that wont matter

Your best bet to rejoin the EU is probably 10 years away at least. Who is proposing to fight a GE on a rejoin the EU ticket?

UK has no chance of rejoining for a decade minimum, if ever
the UK will have to suffer decades of decline caused by brexit -it was only ever a vehicle for Tufton street ghouls.

at least getting rid of right wing populism will allow some adults into power who will negotiate better relationship with EU

So government is now so bad, we have voted a guy who used false names to run get rich quick schemes as home secretary

A con man is now head of the police and security :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

By the end of this decade...

You can quote me on it :)

It's already declined beyond help in just a few years.
(unless it rejoins the EU)

Or maybe the younger generation will make the choice to rejoin?

Luckily many of the xenophobes/racists will be 1.8288 metres under by then (y)

Oh will you be 1.8288 metres under ?

Have you considered cremation ?

Or donating your corpse for medical research ?

Re-joining the EU has two big pills to swallow, the Euro and the Schengen zone.
I suspect that they will be too much for even soft supporters of the EU for many a decade.
But there are several other ways of cooperating with the EU that may not involve those two big issues.

The EU would waive both of those requirements as there is precedent on members being in but out of one or the other. In any case it will be radically different by the time anyone stands on a join agenda.

Still, not to worry, only two years of vicious austerity measures

Sensible, stringent housekeeping and economics are sorely needed now for UK PLC. If not, the economy will slip off the danger list to go 'do not resuscitate'. Either way, following Doris' Brexit and Liz's economically illiterate, market-spooking budget - it's all for Labour to lose.

Liz's aims in the budget were actually laudable, however she broke the golden rules - keep the confidence of the markets, show your workings/ costings and don't rush in big tax changes all together with such a fragile economy.

Got to hand it to you for blind faith though, Filly. You'll be the last one left waiving the flag as we slip below the waves.

As I said before, there are already murmurings of a closer relationship with EU that does not consider re-joining.
It may not be possible to be out of both, and either would be a big pill to swallow for UK. The Schengen zone is a cornerstone of the EU.
But the EU would like UK in, that's obvious, but I doubt if they'll bend over backwards.

Im not convinced the UK will ever rejoin the EU

Im sure we will rebuild a closer relationship, maybe in the Single Market, I cant see a full rejoin, too much water under the bridge

It will take dUK a long time to be regarded as a trustworthy and reliable partner.

Johnson and his Brextremist chums are to blame for that.

They have damaged the nation and trashed its reputation.

Even today there are Brexers who describe lying to the nation, to Parliament and to the Queen, breaking the rules he ordered the rest of us to follow, and reneging on international agreements, as "a glass of wine and a slice of cake."

That's a typical diversion because it wasn't the wine, nor the cake, it was the party going on around them during lockdown that was the issue.

I doubt they would.

We had good terms, we gave them away. Unlikely to be able to return on the same terns, especially as we are already weaker than we were
