I bought this Mcalpine P trap thinking it would fit my sink, but it doesn't as you can see the two faces are the same diameter, any idea what i need to do here please? Thankyou!

Probably is the right fitting, I hate those grey wastes, absolute rubbish imo.

It's a well known issue ..... some of the waste ID's supplied with sinks are non UK standard sizes and then the flange on the McAlpine trap doesn't fit inside it properly.

I've seen me either file down the flange of the trap and/or widen the ID of the waste to get them to fit. The adapter you have linked to though should do the job but measure the waste size 1st to ensure it's 40mm

All fitted now for anyone wanting to see the adapter in place (Highlighted adaptor in yellow) don't do much plumbing (have a go diy'er at best!) but some pics showing fitting and my work for taps feeds too. Yes a bit clunky these hep fittings, may fit some pipe covers just to tidy up the holes i drilled.
