Hello, I have a Mira Jump 9.5kw with a green power light as in the photo. I've just noticed the light flickered while I was taking shower, and continued flickering for a while after I stopped. It then recovered to a stable big green light as in the photo. Have just got an EICR done and the electrician didn't mention any problem with the shower, so hopefully is ok. Is this flickering thing normal? Many thanks

Possibly a bad connection in shower or isolator switch. If it is it will cause overheating of wires & terminals at sometime in the future. Ask your electrician to come back and specifically check out the shower and circuitry. An EICR would not necessarily show a fault like that.

As above, it's worth checking the connections.

However, I believe the Mira Jump uses a neon indicator lamp.
The performance of neon lamps degrades over time, requiring higher voltages to remain stable and flicker-free
(The flicker can often be seen on the neons of old extension leads, before they eventually fail).
As you say that the indicator recovered after the shower was off, suggests that the voltage drop caused by the shower being on, was enough to take it outside of its working range.
This could be perfectly normal behaviour for an aging neon.

EDIT:
Apologies, it looks as if you have a newer model of the Jump that may not have a neon, but a green LED instead.
It still may be nothing to worry about, but worth checking out.

Shower unit looks to be new, judging by the round service label on the front of it.

However, I've fitted dozens of leccie showers and I've seen so many flickering neons that I'm blind to it now.

As said, a quick call to Mira would dispel/ confirm the need for further investigation.

Thanks, yes. I didn't look at the image closely enough, and have edited my post above.
An LED and basic driver can still be susceptible to noise, so I still wouldn't be overly concerned, but speaking to Mira is a good call.

Yep. Thanks. And I should have noted the difference between neon's and LEDs

Many thanks for the advice everyone. I'll call Mira first thing tomorrow and report back.
