Hi this beastie, installed in 2011 has been working fine supplying underfloor heating. Yesterday the red light came on and the water pressure was reading 0.6 bar according to the little meter. This hasn’t happened previously since I normally top up from the water mains in October and February. I topped up to 2.0bar today and ran the boiler. During a heating cycle from when the orange light is on steady to it flashing and then on again steady, the pressure falls to 1.2bar and then climbs back to 2.0 bar. I thought when I looked at it earlier this year that pressure didn’t change noticeably from the set 2.0 bar. if anyone out there knows about these boilers in depth, I’d appreciate to know whether that sort of pressure change is normal for these little fellas when running?

When was the Expansion Vessel last serviced, small red tank near the unit

Hi Ian, thank so for your reply. the tank is actually small silver tank see photo and there is no indication anywhere that it needs to be serviced. There was no service schedule with the boiler, and it’s not obvious how it could be serviced.

can you post a pic of the unit and everything close to it

Pic attached. Other than the pcb there appears to be little else accessible for servicing. To remove the expansion tank, which is not accessible looks as though complete disassembly of the boiler unit would be necessary. An expensive and probably not cost effective thing to do. Do you know what a typical pressure variation is likely to be on this type of unit? Thanks

Hi Ian, I checked the installation manual for the boiler and it shows how to remove the expansion vessel and what to do. So thanks for your assistance. It seems finding one that’s suitable may be problematic, I’ll call Trianco Monday.
Thanks again

OK if you want to do it yourself, you need to turn everything off and drain the unit, looks like you can do that on the manifold just below the silver vessel, you MUST leave this drain point open and remove the dust cap at the top of that vessel, and pump it up to 1.0 Bar, then close the drain point and re-pressurise the system, you can not do it any other way, there are no short cuts

No need at all to replace it see my last post

Hi Rob, thanks for that, I’ll give it a try but if the expansion tank is shot as Ian suggests then it will probably only work for the short time that it worked today. If your suggestion doesn’t work then I’m tempted to remove the expansion vessel and renew the ptfe jointing tape to stem any pressure leak. It would have to happen on what is probably the coldest weekend and worst part of the year.

Not the EV pre-charge :ROFLMAO: .... the system pressure .... the OP says he sets it to 2bar and the gauge marker is set @ 2 bar
Sorry mate that is what happens when you speed read through posts , you are as always correct
