Ceiling or walls first ??

Hi ,

Confident and competent DIY'er here hoping for a bit of up to date advice please ??

I've turned a small section of my new block built garage into a utility room with a bog standard stud wall. I want to plasterboard the roof trusses and the stud wall part of the utility room for insulation and aesthetics. Now this might be a daft question for those in the trade, but do I plasterboard the ceiling or wall first, what's best practice ?? And rather than use 9.5mm on the ceiling, is it ok just to use 12.5mm for everything ??

Having just read a few posts about the subject, I've noticed I've got almost 600mm centres on the wall and ceiling. Should I just go with 15mm plasterboard ?? Cost isn't an issue, doing the job right is .

Not a builder here but done quite at bit of boarding. I looked into 9.5 but the general consensus was not to bother and just use 12.5 and that 15mm is going to sooo heavy to work with.
I think that if you do the ceiling first then the wall will hold the perimeter ceiling as between joists there will be no fixings unless you have perimiter noggins.

12.5mm should be fine, but take care when handling up to the ceiling. As a DIYer working alone, I much prefer to use 1800x900 boards for the ceiling,

Yeah, they make a massive difference. I might knock something up out of spare timber

I brought these to help but didn't use in the end. I too also rigged up a couple big wooden T bars so I could inch the board up and hold it in place whilst I got some screws in.
