Poor gas can’t work out that I move money around……that’s the benefit of premium bonds, it’s as easy as taking money in and out of a bank account.

so this months winnings you claim .......The ones in my wife’s name got £75 this month, in my name a measly £25
Was that on full allowance of 50k each ?

That's a good point!

And that applies equally to most earlier stages as well.
It might be better to say that the sentencing stage of a trial is not meant to be blind. The courts are supposed to take a fully informed view of the offender to select the right punishment.

I would be interested in the rationale, though, for putting ethnic minorities on that list.

With some of the other groups it seems obvious why they are there e.g. young people and disabled people.

I'm not sure why females are on the list?

That stage of justice has never been blind. Faux outrage is boring.
What? you think race, religion, wealth etc are relevant factors for sentencing?

Sentences should be based on circumstances of the offender and the crime committed. One group should not be excluded from a more detailed assessment than another.

Now that's a more interesting point of view. I don't know why those criteria have been chosen to get a pre sentencing report. Or in other words why those criteria are now enough to pay attention to when examining the circumstances of the offender.

Has anyone read the minutes or looked for the justification?

I believe it is well accepted that certain groups have always had an easier ride during sentencing.

Why is being gay not listed then? Or being white? Or being heterosexual?

It is bias.
That would come out in the plea in mitigation or the car itself, plenty of options. Crime gets worse with the economy, look at America. Sentencing guidelines won’t make a jot of difference to overall crime, but Jenny can’t resist diverting attention from ukrane by stirring his favourite pot
