how soon will Trump back down over tariffs

Ever heard the saying of "Hold your nerve" same applies to these tariffs.

I'm still unable to find the eu have the discounted rate.

Not counting chickens yet but potentially it looks as though it could be a masterstroke by Trump. Most of the world are salivating at achieving a 10% tariff as a starting point for negotiations.
For America, well, think debt paydown, tax cuts, growth and job creation.

The only loser is China, plenty of other countries willing to take up the slack as countries abandon China, Make no mistake, China has been intent on taking down the US so it would be fair to say they had it coming, Chinese troops in Ukraine won't be helping, either way, Trump's completely out-manoeuvred Xi.

The art of the deal.

Maybe. Maybe not.

My gut feeling is not.

Has the USA actually just lost the trust built up over almost a century of being a reliable partner.

What a pathetic, digraceful, stupid, prize jerk. And I don't mean Notch this time
I'm not complaining about my result.
For any trader, the market jumping 10% when you're leveraged 20:1, can be called "good".
Whatever the pot was, trebled.

But it was on the basis of an unclear Trump tweet , or mini statement, or something.
It was at 18:20 UK time and it made the markets do this:

What's more, this morning he was saying things like, it's a good day to buy stock, and it's cool.
That has rightly raised accusation of manipulating the market. Many were "in" it, because it was rising
That index went up $2000.

Every share you had, went up $2000.
Wonder who he told???

Would you prefer it if China came out on top? is China a reliable partner? do you trust China?

Too many factors.

Nobody knows what is actually going on or what the goal is. Perhaps not even Trump.

I was actually quite enjoying it. Nothing has happened like this for many decades.

I'd err more towards 'calming the markets' than 'insider trading', but then I'm very trusting.

Just go long again tomorrow, room for more rises yet.

I think we always knew it was going to be 'interesting'. I'm sure there'll be some more surprises along the way.

I just came across this and it might shed some light. From NYT:

Earlier today, the European Union approved its first retaliation measures targeting the United States over its tariffs, shortly before President Trump announced his pause. “That’s bad timing for them, that’s bad timing,” Trump said in the Oval Office when asked about the matter and his threat to punish any foreign powers that retaliate. But Howard Lutnick, the commerce secretary, followed up to say the European Union had set a later date for implementation, adding: “Our expectation is it’s going to be later still.” Trump replied: “I’m glad that they held back.”

So still unclear, but we do know Donald has a dislike for the EU.

Fair play to Starmer, he's played this well so far.

Sad to say, I'd trust anyone more than Trump. America's reputation has gone down the drain.

Even penguins are anti Trump now
