how soon will Trump back down over tariffs

Most of the world are salivating at achieving a 10% tariff as a starting point for negotiations
Not true.

Americas largest trade partners making up $2trillion of US imports are:

Mexico
China
EU
Canada

And none of them have engaged in negotiations.
The ones wanting to negotiate are small fry

For America, well, think debt paydown, tax cuts, growth and job creation
You are funny :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The only loser is China, plenty of other countries willing to take up the slack as countries abandon China
America is the big loser.

Sad to say, I'd trust anyone more than Trump. America's reputation has gone down the drain.

It is impossible to know what the strategy is, if any.

Is it, as some believe, really about isolating China. If so, why throw allies and the whole global trade system under the bus. These are the countries Trump needs to get on board. But how can they trust him now.

To isolate America I.e rebuild it’s industrial base.

No

To re-assert America's economic supremacy

I'm still unable to find the eu have the discounted rate.
All 10%
So this is the position he assumes everyone will accept, as it's so much less than he started threatening - the way he always works.

Back around 1900, McKinley and others used tariffs on tinplate which was a big deal at the time. Upsohot was tha they did raise signifcant revenues; the economy ran in surplus. It did bring forward the US tinplate industry by ten years to ten years, butthe assessment I just read claimed it wasn't worthwile overall because of the price and lack of the stuff which everyone suffered in the interim.
Back then it was the British Commonwealth which was the antagonist.

Trump likes McKinley. He has renamed the mountain which was Denali, for a time. (Helluva nice mountain, I've flown around it, as a tourist).

Lutnik sidestepped a question about whether it wasn't a good idea to use cheap foreign labour to have simple stuff made, implying he wanted a load of people in the USA doing the cheap work. It's obvious where that leads, and it raises problems. Previous generations of Murricans of course had the huge benefit of a classes of underlings doing that sort of work. ie. African Americans and HIspanics. Not so easy now. He's alienating both groups through his anti-diversity agenda , or keeping them the other side of a fence.

That was unclear last I read, don't forget the EU announced retaliatory tariffs this morning.
Not 'unclear', simply inconvenient for you ;)

And the key word is 'retaliatory'...

Who started this chaos?

Oh that's right, that's also inconvenient for you...
I'm still unable to find the eu have the discounted rate.
You're not looking very hard...

And now you are also calling it a 'discount'...

When is it a discount when you are still paying more than before?

So still unclear, but we do know Donald has a dislike for the EU.

Fair play to Starmer, he's played this well so far.
The orange rapist has a dislike for anyone but himself...

And starmer had no choice but to sit on the fence, since the UK is a small country without the clout of the EU standing by our side!

Simply by giving them a binary choice.
That doesn’t engender trust

The whole world now views America as untrustworthy and isolationist.

The West can’t even trust the USA administration with security intelligence because they are directly connected to,and aligned with Putin.

Maybe that was the "medicine" Trump was talking about?
Before Trump started American exports faced an average 2% tariff, Trumps meddling has made that 6%

America is the country taking Trump medicine.

The truth is the White House capitulated……they were watching the bond market and shat themselves.

“The fart of the deal”
