how soon will Trump back down over tariffs

All Trump is doing with his weaponising of tarrifs is accelerating de dollarisation and trust in America as a safe place to do business.
Even when Trump is no longer in power, the damage he has inflicted on America's image will remain.
America used to lead by example but now it has resorted to using threats and blackmail to stay on top.

Donald has blinked with a 90 day pause

Apparently it was all part of his master plan ??

Hmmm :giggle:

For America, well, think debt paydown, tax cuts, growth and job creation.

Debt paydown? Possibly.
Tax cuts? For the billionaires; that is Orangina's goal. All paid for by the consumer. It's a strategy to move even more dough up the wealth chain.
Growth? Sweating for a pittance while lacing up Nikes is not the basis of a high-value economy.
Job creation? There was a reason the septics lost those industries overseas in the first place. Will the average 'murcan wanna go back to low-paid, sweatshop piecework?

The wealthy invest in stocks at a disproportionate rate, with, as noted, the richest 10 percent holding 93 percent of all US stock as of 2023...
As companies face higher costs due to the tariffs, they are expected to pass that on to the consumer in the form of higher prices. Economists project that the tariffs will lead to a $3,789 decline in disposable income for the average US household.

the real losers in Trump's tarriff war...@ VOX

The Trump administration caved in…..because of the bond market.

Only desperate MAGA cultists will keep claiming it’s a negotiating stance and was all planned.

If you want to make a Western economy successful, you focus on high value, high technology for domestic manufacture (by investing in education, great infrastructure etc) and you off shore the low value stuff.

To make things even worse Twumpy is deporting undocumented workers…..the people who already do the unskilled cheap Labour stuff like farming.

Certainly a different 'slant' on it.

My feeling is that Trump really does believe in a policy of completely wiping out the US trade deficits. But pretty much every economist, historian and other expert believes that is impossible and actually counter productive for an economy like the USA. Reports today all seem to say that Trump has been taught a harsh lesson. So, there might be light at the end of the tunnel after all.

seeing as the Rose garden Tariffs did not come into effect until Tuesday and he reversed it on Wednesday... the answer to the original question was 19 Hours... mostly... the question is just how quickly will he bail on China tariffs.
