What wheels do I need?

The usual arrogant suspects trolling again, though once I was on a trading estate and did two tyres and one rim on the same pothole, not low profile tyres.

Gosh! I knew the roads were bad, but that's some going! I've been driving a bloody heavy EV around on 40-profile tyres for the last 50,0000 miles and I haven't managed to trash a tyre on a pothole yet! (Worn a few out, mind...) ;)

Not too many potholes - that you can't avoid - on the 50k-worth of motorways though.

The one-and-a-half car wide lanes - that are frequently used, and therefore knackered at the edges - around our way though, not so pristine.......

You know I live in rural Cumbria, don't you?

You don't do 50k down the lanes though.
Do you?

No, but neither do you! I have to drive along quite a few of them to get to the motorway - I live a good 35 miles from the M6! Most of my local miles are on such roads.

You do know it is not my car, don't you?

Like I said, hit a pothole - tyre gone.

Perhaps you avoid them and he doesn't.
Perhaps he's hitting the car killers, and yours are less severe.

Anyway, pointless carrying on with you, as the tyres are long since playground surfacing.

Yes, fair enough, Just somewhat surprised that one person can have that much bad luck. Some years ago, (a decade or so - long before the roads got as bad as they are today), Mrs. Avocet bought a car on ludicrous 35-profile tyres and buckled a few rims. After paying for a couple of rims (surprisingly, the tyres survived), I thought "sod this!" and advertised the rims and tyres looking to part ex for some standard ones for the car. Some spotty-faced yoof down Bolton way, thought all his Christmases had come at once!
