Nothing official as yet, however it's being muted Government is looking to do 'something' re winter fuel payments given its disastrous public reception and contributing factor to local election results.

They say they are not revisiting the WFA. Which is a mistake in my view. "We got it wrong and are putting it right.", would be a smart move.

They should be rethinking Employers NI and changes to Employee rights if they really want to get the economy going.

Mean while Starmer giving Indian nationals coming here to work a tax break by not having to pay NI for 3 years

Labour were right to look at changing WFA and farm IHT, as both were flawed policies.
But they have made a pigs ear of both.

In terms of WFA, they should either have properly means tested it, so those needing it, get it or they should have left it as it is and and claw back the £200 from wealthier pensioners by tweaking the tax system (don’t know if it’s possible, just suggesting it)

Or alternatively rolled out an increase in the state pension first and then cut the winter fuel payment after.

They should absolutely look at it again, from a purely political perspective scrapping WFA is far more damaging than the money it saves.

Same the other way around if a Brit works for a big company in India..its all part of a bigger deal with India, according to Robert Peston it'll cost about 100 milliion?

I don't necessarily disagree, however as I've touched on before, I cannot believe they came out with the winter fuel stuff straight out the blocks. Talk about a misstep in terms of how it was going to play to the public. They should have bided their time a bit.

There's bold, then there's stupid.

I guarantee if they could turn the clock back, they'd delay the announcement of it.

And where would they get the tax money from to pay for all the fekked public services?

How do you think that NHS waiting list will go down without any money.

Removing the WFA was a justifiable policy but it has hurt the worse off because of the impenetrable bureaucracy involved in completing the paperwork in order to qualify for relief. As the Moneybox feller said, it would have been fairer to give appropriate Council Tax band relief to those who struggle with fuel payments.

Starmer is having to negotiate trade deals cos of Tory brexit

It was that or no trade deal
That’s the price of brexit
It turns out we don’t have the leverage to get great deals, so we have to get weak ones.

By the way did you know India will be the worlds 2nd biggest economy by 2050, ahead of America (PPP)…..so it’s probably worth the pain of a weak deal now

Said on the news that starmer is not altering or reining back on this winter fuel legislation

Basically any one who don’t like it can go and do one

He needs the money for setting up task forces and turbo charging policies ;)
