BBC at it again

Interesting question , can a man have a reputation based on his work for peace notwithstanding his involvement in war. Churchill gets a bad rap for quite a few things he did but retains his reputation. I guess an Irish court/ jury has a different perspective from us Brits

The courts are very black or white at times in their interpretation of the law.. Probably how it should be.

Victimising a poor innocent man .
I paid my TV licence about a month ago, if I had known the BBC was going to use it to pay off an evil **** like Adams , I wouldn't have bothered.
How on earth did the BBC ever believe that a Dublin jury would ever find in favour of the BBC against a leading member of Sinn Fein, no doubt the jury will receive their cut from the 100,000 Euro award.

The total legal bill facing the BBC could be as much as 4.5 million quid, how many more licence payers will have to be hounded by the BBC to make up that shortfall in revenue.

If this court case had of been held in Britain, then the BBC would probably have won, because the BBC is freely available in the Irish Republic, Adams was able to have his defamation case heard in the Republic.

To be sure to be sure. To add insult to injury, plus some irony, he's probably like yourself, a Paddystinian.

You are probably more of a Paddy than i am, to be sure.
If you aren't conflating Jews with Zionist, you are now conflating Irish with Palestinian, there are millions of Britons who are appalled at what is happening in Palestine, i suppose they are all Irish as well.
Anyway apart from Sinn Fein, the threat to Ireland today isn't from Paddystinians, its from muslim Paddystani asylum seekers.

Ungrateful liberal intelligentsia like to dwell on this kind of thing. They would have preferred us to collaborate
Orwell said something similar about the bourgois middle class in the 1930s, in their attitude to Stalin's Russia - they soon changed their tune after the war, for sure.

And Churchill was a devout Zionist
Don't know about that , he sort of became a bit more ambivalent in his opinion of Zionism when they murdered his friend Lord Moyne in Cairo.
Churchill was also on a Zionist hitlist at one time.

Gerry Adams brother was a rum bugger.

The law is an ass.

Compare this with the Barry George case, why isn't Adams asked to prove that he didn't order the murder?

I'm sure there are many that would consider that Gerry Adams is 'not innocent enough'

Is Irish defamation law the same as UK law in this respect? I believe in the USA, for instance, the burden of proof is reversed.

Gerry Adams was the political voice of the IRA, he wouldn't ever condem the London bombing campaign.
