BBC at it again

Gas112 says “the BBC are at it again, covering news events, how dare they.

I am not sure what gasser's angle is, TBH. Is he criticising the BBC for investigating Gerry Adams?

Adams was able to have his defamation case heard in the Republic
How is that the BBCs fault?

The BBC lost a defamation case, it’s not their fault the court found against them

The courts are very black or white at times in their interpretation of the law.. Probably how it should be.
Supporters of right wing populism don’t like democracy where everybody is subject to the same law.

Personally I think it is disgusting that a man who was leader of the political wing of a terrorism organisation can get awarded a £100k for defamation.

Gerry Adams is more slippery than the worlds most slippery snake

Compare this with the Barry George case, why isn't Adams asked to prove that he didn't order the murder?
Innocent until proven guilty. I'm not an Adams fan but that's just the way it works.

I wonder how many people he has killed, brutally attacked or murdered.

How involved was he with “the disappeared”

I remember Jean McConville

I'm not sure that is actually true. Do you have some examples in mind?
If that were the case, why do we have a remand system where people awaiting a trial are held in prison when not been found guilty?

That is obviously true. But that has always been the case. I believe it is actually quite rare, and only in serious cases where there are concerns they might flee or nobble witnesses.

But they are innocent until proven guilty right?

As the law stands, it is not for the accused to prove that they are innocent but for the prosecution to prove them guilty,

Yes, of course. Remand is a problem. Nobody can deny that. But that has always been the case.

I thought you were talking about recent developments.
