Well as everyone knows that I am probably the most up to date person on here tech wise. I am doing a media center at my house and have come accross a dilema. Aerial or not, Data connection or not? Freely is the new way forward. Within the next decade all TV will be watched by streaming. However I am being clever and future proofing myself as only an ex Royal signaler would do. I am installing data comms and a coax aerial but ditching my Sky Box. OMG I hear you all say, I am in the know and so I know this is best. How do you watch TV and are you future proofing yourself?

Off the aerial still. We’ve had poor reception on and off for a while and thought about getting Freely, but the interface doesn’t get great reviews and it’s still early days. It may be supported by the terrestial TV providers, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to gain traction and be the final solution.

So my job for tomorrow is to take the aerial out of the loft and stick it on the roof, where hopefully I can enjoy another 5-10 years of simple, easy to use, Freeview.

We are always one step behind on tech.

We still have a Humax Freeview recorder!

But we stream as well, either through the Humax or using the TV's inbuilt streaming.

Aswell as 13 amp sockets I also put 2x RJ45 sockets and an ariel point behind my TV

One for the TV and one for the fire stick, you need one of these so the firestick isn't on WiFi, less buffering I find...

A bit old hat, but will get the job done. Won't be in my amazing media center though, that should send warnings out to you on it's own.

You need to rip yours out now and follow my lead. I am preparing for all communications being knocked out through the wars breaking out. I will still be able to watch Emmerdale farm where you will be left trying to tune into anything that isnt going to be there.
