I think it's gone downhill since Kraft took over in 2010.

The cocoa solids are 20%, but having said that, when I was briefly in the food industry in the 80s, the minimum for milk chocolate then was also 20%, based on 1976 regulations

But apparently in Australia, Cadburys make a better quality mix. They use 27% cocoa solids and full cream milk, with no palm oil.

I only like the cadburys caramel bar.

I could happily eat a big one once it’s open.

I think most things are made on the cheap now. Palm oil in chocolate, I wasn’t aware of that

Yep palm oil supposedly responsibly sourced by the chocolate industry

It definitely tasted a bit different when I was there many years ago.

Cadburys have always claimed that the recipe hasn't changed. They put any perceived differences down to a change in mouth feel because the shape of the blocks has changed.

Which has replaced cocoa butter.

Mainstream British milk chocolate has always contained a small amount of vegetable oil. There was a twenty five year plus branding dispute with the EU who wanted us to call it "vegelate" when it was sold on the continent. For decades you couldn't actually buy British chocolate on the continent. I think they finally settled on "Family Milk Chocolate".
