Hi, I’ve recently had new block paving done on my driveway & it was sealed shortly after. Now it’s looking patchy in areas, some bits darker grey than others. Any idea what I need to do to fix this?

It depends what it was sealed with. Some acrylic sealers can be reactivated with a suitable solution, others may have to be completly redone.

It was Thompson’s one coat patio & block paving seal that was applied

Looks like some blocks absorbed more seal than others , had it rained prior to seal being applied ?

Presumably if it's been dry for a while it looks fully uniform?

Does it just look patchy after a bit of rain?

Yes after a bit of rain it looks patchy and if it’s dry for a few days it does look uniform again. It’s the times in between it looks patchy all over the place. Should I be doing another coat or applying sealant remover to fix it or is it best leaving it well alone to weather?

No it was dry for days prior to the seal being applied. It goes patchy after it’s rained and then if there’s several dry days it eventually goes beck to uniform

I stopped using Thompson patio sealer after the same experience with my front slabs path.
At the back I used Wickes patio sealer which is solvent based.
Much better finish and no discoloration.
It smells for a couple of days after application, but being outside it's not a problem.
Been there a year and still ok.

Looks to have been poorly sealed so some areas don’t have enough to prevent water staining.

Did you just go over the Thompsons application with the Wickes one?
