Hi no he wasn't an engineer but she'd had the boiler serviced that day under insurance. he passed it as fine. The builder was on the phone to her while she was having it serviced and asked for a word with the engineer who offered to take the radiator off while he was there. Which he tried and couldnt and caused the radiator to leak. It's on the notes. It weren't leaking before.
Builder has just rang this minute and he's gonna send an engineer as it sounds like the guy he got to take the radiator off has not purged the radiator.
Updates will probably follow 4pm Thanks guys.
Stupid me - I had ICOS stuck in my mind when it's actually an ISAR - the ICOS were reg/sys boilers that could be run open vent.
@cheb - regardless, one radiator being off shouldn't make the boiler overheat especially if the others warm up fine. The rad doesn't need purged, well yes it does, but it's not purged really but just vented. Make sure they have the system run up, all hot and no issues with the boiler no longer making funny noises before they leave.
I'm not sure how you are expecting anyone on here to diagose the issue without being able to look at it.
If you have paid someone to carry out the work and there is an issue it is not unreasonable to call them back to come and diagnoise the issue and repair (at no cost) if they are at fault or provide a estimate for repair.
You have two options really;
a) if the previous guy was a cowboy call in a professional - the properties energy provider will likely provide a diagnose/repair service
b) if the previous guy was not a cowboy he wont mind coming back to address the issue properly
Get it sorted now, winter is coming and even in summer a home without hot water and heating is not a nice one to live in.
