Your taps colour is caused by verdigris the natural patina that all copper and its alloys go.
You can speed it up by using acetic acid .
Or back in day copper roofs were brushed with urine!
That probably why above comment.
 
All sounds Chinese to me :)

So you're saying the old one was once brass ?
 
(as above) any shiney brass one will just tern the same colour given time (6-12 months?)
a Gold one (besides being quite pricey) would never change colour
and if it is outside it would soon get nicked probably by me)
 
Been replaced.

Let’s hope they will match in colour in few years time

i think there is something that you can do with salt and vinegar to speed up the process - seriously , some very watered down mix sprayed on every month or so do a search on internet if it is nearby

treat yourself to some fish and chips whilst at it

probably should make sure there is no protective coating already on designed to stop the ageing process, i doubt it bu rub it down in white spirit or something to remove any protective wax that may be on it
