I've known about simply filling the form in, to stop the PO's delivery of junk mail, but I've been reluctant to do it, because they make some money on it - not usre if just the PO, or the postie gets a bonus out of it. Our old postie used to just store 'em up, and deliver the junk, when he had valid mail to deliver, but recently we got a new one.

The new one, would make a nuisance of himself, delivering the junk almost daily. So, I decided to fill the form in, to see if it stopped the junk. The form said a couple of weeks to be stopped, but it stopped instantly. Only two deliveries, in four weeks by the postie, and those legitimate mail items..

...actions you can take to stop getting junk mail.

I thought people just put a sign on letter box “ No junk mail”.
Seems to work around here .

Just save it all up, and then put it in one of the pre-paid envelopes (preferably overweight) that come with all the crap, then pop it in a pillar box.
I used to do that years ago, very childish of me, I used to just tear their paperwork up, bung it in the envelope and put it in the post box, it never stopped them sending the crap.

i never tried it but always wondered if I attached the 1st class free post reply envelope to a brick or block - presumably they would have to pay ?

After much complaining about it, thinking about it in the end I decided that accepting Junk mail is the way to go as the delivery service (Royal Mail) does get paid to deliver such (at a lower rate than what we pay). If it keeps the service going then I'm all for it.

Junk mail is not high on my things-to-get-irked-about list.

And long may that remain the case (y)

I do miss the free local weekly paper though.

I have to fetch the Waitrose one now, to clean my windows with

Not sure if it's related to me doing more and more online over recent years, however the quantity of junk mail I receive is near zero. I get the occasional estate agent promo, local takeaway menus and stuff from the likes of Screwfix, however days can pass between me getting any mail whatsoever.

Same here.

Pizza menus, carpets, fascia replacements..................

But days upon days with nothing as well.

It just goes from the hall floor to the paper recycling bin (y)

We are the same here, only rarely getting mail, which is why the junk, delivered by RM, has become so very annoying. Takeaway menus aren't delivered by RM, they are hand-delivered. We've not had any free newspaper here, for many years, those, have to be collected in person from various outlets, but not worth having - all that is contained in them is ads. The best free one, is the local Metro paper, found on buses.

Really? I didn't know that ;)

My point was more generally referring to what I get through the door, regardless of who delivers it.
