I need to lengthen a 0.75mm2 twin (live/neutral) cable on a 25W 220-240V 50Hz bug zapper by about 1m to reach a socket on the floor. The existing socket is 13A (could do reducing to 3A).

I need to take apart the zapper to disconnect live/neutral and rewire with said cable then reconnect to a plug. Can I increase the length by 2m (total 3m)?

If that was my zapper, I'd dismantle the unit and then after removing the existing cable, fit a new length to the size required to reach the socket.

What if the connections are soldered inside the unit? Would you be able to accommodate the same result with a new flex cable?

What if the connections are crimped? Would you be able to accommodate the same result with a new flex cable?

What if the connections are heat shrinked? Would you be able to accommodate the same result with a new flex cable?

Or even come up with another way that is safe, secure and reliable?

If you can’t then the best option would be an extension lead IMO.

Extension would need mounting to the wall too
Why?

What about using a 5A rocker switch halfway and said switch would allow add in 0.75mm2 twin cable

Whatever you do, please include writing to the maker to complain that the cable is too short.

If the Manufacturer was not in China. They make cheap appliances by the million and 1 complaint is unlikely to make a difference

Then don’t bother buying from them because inevitably, you'll just end up wanting to change it anyway.
