Torey conference outcomes

One poll suggested quite a lot of support for Reform even among the young. They're as fed up with the nonsense as everyone else.

Usually a term of an actual labour government gives a dose of reality to those who think it's all going to be idealist sunshine and wonder. They stay out of power until a new generation comes along who can't remember the last time they buggered the country up and are daft enough to believe their promises.
Yes, 16 y o followers of Andrew Tait. Another strategic decision from Kieth

Whatever they say, they're not in any way obliged to do any of it, and can do things they never mentioned.

Starmer made all kinds of promises while campaigning to be leader and then PM, and has now disregarded almost all of them. Digital ID was never even mentioned but is now the big policy of the moment.

We know that the tories and labour are liars. The others are unknowns, so will probably win just on that basis, that they can't be any worse.
I've said before, and no doubt someone would be able to collate the stats, it would be very interesting to see a table showing the last 50 years, party in power, manifesto promises made, and then the most interesting part of the table, to what extent each promise was delivered from 0% to 100%.

I think it would make for very interesting reading.

The system is sh1te. Yes, it may indeed be better than many other countries and at least we still live in a semblance of a free democracy, however the whole political system needs review.

And no, I don't know what the answers are before the usual suspects ask ;)

And then we have the real world, not this load of bunkum
lol at people who believe Reform are going to do much better than any of the established parties. I'm not even saying that against Reform. The main point I'm making is regardless of who's in power, I have little confidence in any of them delivering for the country.

Unless of course the only thing of importance to these people is the small boat crisis, in which case yes Reform promise more, however I still have my doubts re delivery.

2029:
Reform in power.

2030:
10 million immigrants deported
Net zero scrapped
Johnson, Blair, Kahn and Starmer in jail
2031:
Reform in ECHR court over political interference in the legal system, and denial of several Human Rights abuses.

Medical system collapses through labour shortage. Medical services privatised. Some hospitals closed. Some vital services cancelled completely.
85% of UK population left without medical cover. Dentists and Ophthalmologists going under through lack of business.
Famine called in UK through lack of produce in shops.
Inflation at 100% due to shortages.
London Stock Market modifies opening times to half days due to staff shortages. Banks also suffering staff shortages.
Saudi Stock Exchange overtakes London Stock Exchange.
High streets deserted by the few hospitality chains left operating.
Accidents on motorways increase due to service station closures.
UK falling behind in global Technology stakes.
Transport reduced to half operational routes.
House building programmes falter through skills shortages.

The small boats are a crisis, I agree.

But there are more, and bigger issues. Reform will make the divide ( people and wealth) worse, in favour the "haves" at the expense of the "have nots".

Lots of people are going to be like turkeys voting for Christmas.

But the G E is still a long way away, labour will ease off the loud pedal and put in a feel good factor before then. As all parties do, the 1 st year or 2 is when all the heavy nasty stuff is done

I don't even lay the entire blame at the door of any party.
In the end, they're all in the thrall of the electorate, enough of who "want five-star service at Travelodge prices", in perpetuity, that no party can make a serious dent in the structural fixes we need.
Not in an adversarial political set up, anyway.

At least with PR and cross-bench cooperation, we might have a chance of inching towards a better future. Spread the inevitable pain over a prolonged period, but make it more of a niggle than agony.
But popularity contests every five years just lead to lurching this way and that, and the UK slowly slides further down the shoitepipe..............

With Reform I have no doubts whatsoever that they will be the next government, delivery well lets just see, to be fair to them, who has ever delivered on their promises, during an election they lie and tell you what you want to hear, once in power it all goes out of the window. Reform may be exactly the same, I like Nigel as he makes me smile so he has my vote.

Not if you quit sniffing glue in the New Year. (y)
Lol
I've said before
Yes you have!

I'm sorry you have such a very small one. (Overton Window I mean)

Zźzzzzzzz echr asylum refugees UN nato unicef Palestine. What bores and your commie chums are, why do you never go on the music threads? Says a lot about you lot.

The polls aren't yet showing the effect of the digital ID announcement, which has been another nail in Starmer's coffin
Starmer keeps shooting himself in the foot.
He keeps coming up with daft policies only to backtrack, I heard that he now wants to abolish the use of cash.

He has half an eye on his legacy (footnote in history) as an innovative PM
