I've said before, and no doubt someone would be able to collate the stats, it would be very interesting to see a table showing the last 50 years, party in power, manifesto promises made, and then the most interesting part of the table, to what extent each promise was delivered from 0% to 100%.

I think it would make for very interesting reading.

The system is sh1te. Yes, it may indeed be better than many other countries and at least we still live in a semblance of a free democracy, however the whole political system needs review.

And no, I don't know what the answers are before the usual suspects ask ;)

lol at people who believe Reform are going to do much better than any of the established parties. I'm not even saying that against Reform. The main point I'm making is regardless of who's in power, I have little confidence in any of them delivering for the country.

Unless of course the only thing of importance to these people is the small boat crisis, in which case yes Reform promise more, however I still have my doubts re delivery.

Inflation at 100% due to shortages.

High streets deserted by the few hospitality chains left operating.
Accidents on motorways increase due to service station closures.
UK falling behind in global Technology stakes.
Transport reduced to half operational routes.
House building programmes falter through skills shortages.

The small boats are a crisis, I agree.

But there are more, and bigger issues. Reform will make the divide ( people and wealth) worse, in favour the "haves" at the expense of the "have nots".

Lots of people are going to be like turkeys voting for Christmas.

But the G E is still a long way away, labour will ease off the loud pedal and put in a feel good factor before then. As all parties do, the 1 st year or 2 is when all the heavy nasty stuff is done

I don't even lay the entire blame at the door of any party.
In the end, they're all in the thrall of the electorate, enough of who "want five-star service at Travelodge prices", in perpetuity, that no party can make a serious dent in the structural fixes we need.
Not in an adversarial political set up, anyway.

At least with PR and cross-bench cooperation, we might have a chance of inching towards a better future. Spread the inevitable pain over a prolonged period, but make it more of a niggle than agony.
But popularity contests every five years just lead to lurching this way and that, and the UK slowly slides further down the shoitepipe..............
 
With Reform I have no doubts whatsoever that they will be the next government, delivery well lets just see, to be fair to them, who has ever delivered on their promises, during an election they lie and tell you what you want to hear, once in power it all goes out of the window. Reform may be exactly the same, I like Nigel as he makes me smile so he has my vote.

Starmer keeps shooting himself in the foot.
He keeps coming up with daft policies only to backtrack, I heard that he now wants to abolish the use of cash.
