First time poster! As the weathers getting colder, I’ve started putting the heating on. However, the towel rail heater in the bathroom doesn’t seem to be coming on.

I watched a YouTube video of what to do (yes I’m useless at DIY). All I’ve done so far is turn the bottom left valve anti clockwise (it only moved about a millimetre to be fair). I also unscrewed the bleed valve a touch. Nothing hissed but cold water came out immediately.

Anything else I can try/do? Interestingly, the pipes at the bottom, feeding into the radiator, are stone cold… Heating works fine throughout my flat otherwise. If it makes a difference, it’s a new build place, only 2 years old.

I removed the TRV (Pegler Terrier) - the pin is inside the head, but not sure how rigid it's meant to be?

Try the heating on without that head attached, if no joy, the turn all other rads off with TRVs to force the water around, and that should then heat up. Report back once done please.

I turned down the other radiators to zero on the TRV's, but still nothing. That's with and without the TRV on the towel radiator. Just stone cold down to and including the pipes into the wall from the radiator

Ok. Has it ever worked? Try pushing the trv pin down and see if it’s springs back.

Yeah it worked last winter.... Have tried that too, the pin in the head, and given it a bit of WD40, but still no dice. Was hoping this would be an easy quick fix

Can you take a photo of the pipework? Are there any diverter valves attached?

turn both the valves off and open the air release valve the water should stop within a second or two .
Leave it open
then just turn the lockshield valve on slightly ,
water should come out the air release if not then their is a valve problem or a blockage in the pipe
turn valve back off and
repeat with the trv side
.
.
Do you know if any of the pipework on heating circuit has been done in 10mm plastic as this can block up

Put a towel under the rad and open the air bleed valve and let it issue water for a couple on minutes whilst the heating is on and see if any warmth comes through the pipe, I assume its a combi boiler so put the pressure up to 1.5 bar so it doesn't cut the boiler out.

So this morning, the towel radiator come on. None of the other radiators in the house have come on. Thermostat is set for the heating to come on at 19 degrees. Current house temperature is 20 degrees. So on the plus side, the towel radiator works. On the down side, what the hell?
