Mandatory ID cards (Brit Card) to be announced tomorrow

So where is it then?
Read the thread, or an article about it. I'm not going to retype it all.

It's boring having people ranting about this who have no idea what they're ranting about.
Oh you will
Maybe, but it has been explicitly stated that the police won't be allowed to demand to see ID. Other than the normal times they can do that like if you're driving a car presumably.

In the end this won’t boil down to how secure Oracle cloud is, all the opposition parties have said they don’t support the idea. It will be Starmer’s poll tax.

Which is rank hypocrisy from the Tories as they wanted the same thing while in power and Reform would just roll out a law that anyone with a heavy tan can be deported on suspicion of foreignness.

Then again who cares about the Tories.

Labour tried to introduce compulsory ID last time they had power.

Where is the Conservative policy stating they planned to introduce compulsory ID for all?

Seems they are clearly opposed to this scheme.

"The Tories are to back controversial government plans to introduce ID cards."

It's literally the first line of the article.

With relation to this thread, I've never subscribed to the 'if you're doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear' argument, when it comes to proposed or actual further restrictions to our freedoms.

Just because you're a law abiding citizen doesn't mean you should be automatically comfortable with anything and everything government propose.

And the kicker? Regardless of whatever they introduce, it still doesn't stop the criminals, does it? They're always one step ahead or so we're told.

  • Oppose Labour’s plans for Digital ID cards and scrap them when we return to office
Let's not be silly about what that means.

IF...

Okay, so they scrap Labour's plans and introduce their own?
Or, they're backing the government's plan to look like they're still relevant in politics?
I think they will be out for a decade unless they form a coalition with Reform. At least we are clear they are opposing the current ID cards along with every other party.

You really think that is where it will stop. You must be about the only person in the country who does I can only surmise that you have a vested interest in this -given your user name how much money are you set to make from it.

Digital ID is already happening. All the luddites insisting you're going to have to be forcibly chipped and saying they'll start employing illegal immigrants in protest wont stop that.

Once it's built then it isn't going to be scrapped. Whoever is in power next will make some trivial change and pretend they've met their stupid and self destructive promises.
