I want to stop any possible backtracking of water on my lintel. Don't want to grind anything out etc. but I read somewhere about putting a bead of silicone on the lintel (or maybe even a upvc trim?). If so, would the silicone bead go on the 'face' of the lintel or underneath it, how far in etc ?
Alternative suggestions and any advice welcome please
Thanks

Front edge, with the idea being to encourage water to drip, from the lowest part, and front edge, so it drips clear of the wall. UPVC trim might look neater.

Flat trim or bead? Would it be best for it to ‘hang’ below the face of the lintel a couple of mm? Top or bottom of lintel, sorry for sounding so thick, it’s just that I’ve read various differences. One even said under the lintel half inch in!
Thanks

Water will cling to a surface, and follow the surface, in a downwards direction, due to gravity. The idea of a drip channel, is to prevent the water running back to the wall, and then down the wall, by providing the water, a lower surface to run to, with the help of gravity, so it is forced to drip from that surface.

Therefore, obviously, it needs to be below the lintel, and close to the outer edge. The bead/strip or whatever, needs to hang down at least 5 or 6mm, and be sealed to the lintel, to work.

Thanks, so a bit of upvc beading glue/siliconed to the underside of the lintel at the front edge should be fine as I think the 'strips' are only a couple of mm thick.
Edit: there is some strips 5mm thick, so should be ok
