This is just a query if I can be done i am not a plumber. I have just purchased a Hive thermostat for combi boiler with open therm, I also have a wet underfloor heating downstairs. Is it possible to run the underfloor system with the Ideal Combi boiler? Any advice would be appreciated. The plumber who installed the underfloor installed 2 way valves but never wired them in

Yes it can but you would use two hive or similar stats as you would need the under floor to run at different times to radiator circuit..( multizone)

What if we want the underfloor and the heating on at the same time? Would i still need 2 Hives?

Depends on where all cabling is. The hive still needs to send a switch live to the boiler for either demand

But you wouldnt be able to use the open therm protocol option? That was the way i read it.

Opentherm need the connections from the receiver to the boiler, so depends on where all is located and if you want or are able to run cabling

Boiler upstairs and Underfloor heating in directly downstairs below the boiler cabling not an issue. So you can have the opertherm wired into the receiver and also the Underfloor?

If you don't mind both starting at the same time wire hive with opentherm as this will provide compensation and optimised start/stop. As you mentioned the motorised valve isn't wire so it's probably always open.
Do you have mixing valve, actuators, wiring center on the underfloor? It would help to see some photos of the setup:)

Yes the plumber put 2 valves on the system but never wired them in? So yes they are just passing the water. I have the Underfloor system downstairs and plugged into a smart plug so when i put the heating on i have to switch the underfloor on. I can see you reading this on the floor laughing :(
Is it possible to connect the hive to both then?? There is no Wiring Centre, all i have is the Ideal wireless thermostat connected to the boiler.

It may be that you need a Hive mutizone kit or hub. It might be able to be done on the switching side of the zone valve, but not something I'm au fait with

That's clever way to do it;). By "I have to switch the underfloor on" do you mean the pump at the manifold or something else? It's definitely possible to connect the Hive by sending the Switch Live to any 240v device you need to turn on. Photos, video or drawings would help to plan it.

Yes the Manifold pump is downstairs plugged into a smart plug. But i will take some photos so you can see if it is possible to what is needed to be done.

So it comes from boiler Tees out before the rad valve to the Under floor valve.
