I replaced the rubber washer on the fill valve but it's still dripping but not as much as it did. I see there are kits that include the plastic cone thing. I can see it in there but I can not see how to get it out to replace.
Thank you.

Just fit a complete new float valve.
Thanks, so looking at the picture the cone probably fits in via the front and I need to grab it with some pliers with protection on the end
Or what bottom fill valve you people recommend. There is a skylo in the other loo.

Not sure on Viva stuff yet as I’ve not had many dealings. Torbeck, fluidmaster, and even Thomas Dudley (your current one) are reputable brands. Siamp are ok too

Is the diaphragm fitted the right way round? side with the small grove fitting the lip on the valve body.

All my messing with it the it's now leaking at the cistern entrance. The wind in and out stopper is out all the way and is bending as it pushes on the valve pin and is not fully connecting to it resulting in too much water that the ball is forcing the fill tube to the right and so letting water past the rubber washer at the bottom of the cistern.
For now I have turned off the maintenance valve and flushed the water out and the pressure is off the fill tube now
I will be replacing with the viva bottom entry float valve. Brass thread tail

One thing I see from the cad drawings that the brass tail is 50mm on the viva.
I am not sure but I think the original tail is longer and there is no flex in the supply.
I can not measure it right now as it's a friend's house and they have just moved in.
Maybe I should start by measuring the tail as it is now and then find a fill valve with the same length tail.

You could measure it, but depends on how much you need to make up, only slightly I’d be looking at a tap extension

I need some pictures but looking at it today from memory it's looks like 10mm copper then a plastic push fit elbow then an isolation valve that I think is another push fit one end then the tail.
The house is about 20 year's old.
What is the tap extension you mention please.

Brilliant, thank you for your help. So fibre not rubber. I have these but are all fibre washers equal, these are a set from Aldi.
As I am going to the proper plumbing supplies place would I be better off buying a few "proper" ones
