Some of the most opinionated posters on here reach their limit very quickly, over what is after all only forum banter, and call for posters to be permanently banned. The FF deserved protection from what was clearly more than occasional banter. As Pete says her line manager probably wasn’t up to the job, or felt he had been given the bullet to fire by senior management who wanted clean hands, and then sacrificed him when the sh1t hit the fan. He spoilt the narrative by going first. The fire service is a true band of brothers but also very political. I imagine the army can be like that.

The army does not have a policy of giving out written warnings or dismissal for anything like this or we wouldn't have an army left. Banter is rife in the army and is expected. If you put a complaint in against someone you were more likely to be made to run around the parade square with your rifle held over your head in your underware than to get a warning. It would have to be very serious for anything to escalate.
