Noticed what looked like soot down the side of a switch in the bedroom. Anyway decided to investigate. Took the switch off. Found the little screw that holds the switch to the wall is massively long and trapped a live wire. What’s the best fix for this ? Insulation tape?

Thanks
Tom

OP - are these cables, pointed in the picture, affected by the screw too?

When screwing the switch back, make sure the wires are not directly behind the lug, (the part where it holds the screw), the wires looks like they have a bit of slack so try moving them away a bit.

I checked them and they had abit of soot on them but apart from that no damage. Yeah I’ve made sure they are definitely not behind the lug where the screw goes in.
