Take that, Trump

Squirrels?

Correct.
Trump tantrums to follow.

I've been playing with meta to animate old photos - it's scary how it can create a short movie from stills.

The other issue, for those interested in the big picture, is that this is just another example of the slide into autocracy:

Trump sanctions lawyers who represent people challenging his policies.
Trump threatens to cancel the broadcast licences of TV networks unless they ditch shows critical of him.
Trump prosecutes opposition politicians for criticising his policies.
And as in this case, Trump attempts to destroy private companies who refuse to go along with his policies.

That is what they are relying on. But even their own AI can see through it.
See through what? There's no financial benefit to this choice for Anthropic. They might not stick to it and they might suffer significantly but what is there to 'see through'?

Everyone is talking about them

“The Pentagon and Anthropic were close to agreeing on the use of artificial intelligence. But strong personalities, mutual dislike and a rival company unraveled a deal.”

business as usual then

'Mr. Michael, who was on a call with Anthropic executives at the time, said the Pentagon wanted the company to allow for the collection and analysis of unclassified, commercial bulk data on Americans, such as geolocation and web browsing data, people briefed on the negotiations said.

Anthropic told the Pentagon that it was willing to let its technology be used by the National Security Agency for classified material collected under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. But the company wanted a legally binding promise from the Pentagon not to use its technology on unclassified commercial data.'

Hundreds of employees at other AI firms have written letters to say that what Trump is doing is dangerous. I know who I would trust. Why does the government want to gather data on all Americans.

On Saturday, Mr. Altman invited people to ask him questions on X about the deal as OpenAI faced a backlash for swooping in. Many questioned how OpenAI could sign a deal with the Pentagon and still uphold its safety principles, as well as whether OpenAI’s agreement truly protected its A.I. models from misuse.

Just business as usual (y)

Silicon Valley is all love, until there is a deal. Lets see how many enterprise tech firms support their stance.
