Hi

I need to find a similar adapter that can handle the power rating of my existing one as shown in the picture attached. It is used to charge a wireless foot peddle for a clinic. Someone broke the end connector pin as shown.

If I’m correct I cannot use this one from Amazon because it has a negative centre polarity pin?

If the ampage is 2A what is meant by the numbers after the 50-60 Hz ie 0.5A (0.5-0.2A)?

If you have the skill (or know anyone who has) you could just replace the connector.

You will need to check if it is 2.5 mm (which is probable)
or
2,.1 mm !!!!

A badly worded Amazon "Blurb" (which is NOT unusual)
but
it says

"Negative Sleeve Positive Polarity"

which (probably) means that the Sleeve is Negative and the Centre is Positive. (Which is "usual".)

However, it is rated at only 1 A and you may need more,
since the original was rated at 2 A

That is the "Input" AC current
(At a low AC input voltage [100 V] the input current will be higher,
At a high AC input voltage [240 V], the input current will be lower.)

The "Output" 9 V DC current should be up to (at least) 2 A

I agree cheaper to replace the connector (wheres Maplin when you need them.....) but if you cant find someone to replace it for you if you dont have the skill then buying a new one might be easier and it it is in a medical enviroment a new one might be better

Since "It is used to charge a wireless foot peddle for a clinic. " (Post #1)
the "medical environment" specification may not be of any importance.

So I bought this adapter from Amazon it seem to work fine with the foot peddle and charge it ok.

My question is why if they can make an adapter like this, then why make the original one as a block with detachable kettle lead cable?

Wall warts?

The foot peddle is only a year or two old. I was assuming there is a technical reason why those bulky power supplies are made if they cannot just to the plug alone like the new one?

Why not? It's more flexible - will work in any country with appropriate local cable.
Perhaps the original product is better specced than the replacement you've bought.
