This probably should be in the electric bit, but I know there’s a couple of very good electricians in here.

I want to use a variable frequency drive with a pressure sensor to control a 1.1kw grudfos water pump.

Does the above wiring look ok ? Also I’d like to put a timer on so it will automatically turn off while the shop is closed.

Exactly that, not sure if that model has the timer actually built in as some do, but easy to wire an external timer to it if needed, is it a 3 phase pump that you are wiring in along with 3 phase mains input? Also the motor or pump wires into the bottom of the drive through the UVW terminals.. Also when you program it you have to program the sensor for 4-20Ma in the drive so it knows it is looking forr a variable sensor

Is the pump motor of that model designed for variable frequency use?

Yeah a 3 phase 1.1kw pump.

Yeah I’ve just been looking into the settings. Seems fairly complicated but I want it to be as efficient as possible when it’s set up.

Is there such a thing as a bypass switch ? So I can just leave the pump running on its own if the vfd plays up.

A chap I know just has his pump running all day. No controls etc, but I want to be a bit fancier lol.

Honestly they sound more complicated explaing how to do it rather than just doing it, I will see if I can find something that you can follow.

Cheers mate. I think it will be worth it when it’s all done.

@MNW67s mate also agrees

Nice one mate.

Most people just have the pump on all day and they self modulate to a certain extent. But I’d like it to turn off when no one’s using a machine.

Everything else in the plant room is new now and this will be the finishing touch.
