Hello everyone.

I am planning to install a new water heater in my home and would like advice from experienced installers. My house currently uses an old electric unit that is inefficient and slow.

I am considering switching to either a tankless system or a modern storage tank model, but I am unsure about the installation requirements, cost differences, and long-term maintenance.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical wiring or plumbing before installation? What safety precautions should I follow, and is it better to hire a professional or attempt a DIY installation?

Any guidance or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance for any help

OP,
Do you have a natural gas supply? If you do then a natural gas storage W/H would be the answer.
But maybe the present elec heater was installed for some particular reason ?
Modern elec W/H's are very effective and simple to install as replacements &, depending on circumstances such as replacing the elements, almost maintenance free

Installing any kind of water heating appliance is for a professional its definitely not DIY work.

I cant go on 'cause a little scrap has jumped on my knee & is pinching my phone and demanding we go for ice cream and hours in thr playcwntree - i g ive up i always do
