While I fully agree with your sentiment, we don't know the details of this case. We don't know the motivation for the fight, other than it was described as a pub brawl.

Speculation on-line about motives, etc can be as dangerous as the pernicious ethnically inspired hatred to which you allude to.

Don't be silly. Most are forewarned and prepared by their parents. Others are more prepared to rise above it. Others join in with the prevalent group-think in order to avoid being the object of such discrmination.
But sadly there are some that succumbe, and are beaten down by constant and persistent discrimination.
And like packs of animals surrounding other wounded animals, all the bigots come together, ganging up to deliver the final blows.
