Getting rid of garden gravel via Facebook Marketplace - What has your experience been like?

Not sure where to post this as it's not exactly gardening related.
Our back garden has a boarder of Gravel/Stones and we want to get rid. I'd say theres about three quarter of a Ton of the stones. Looking at skips in our area the price is around £400 which is a bit out of our price range.
Sadly the ppl who laid the stone didn't use membrane and is just sat on earth and have slowly started to sink into the mud etc and are rather dirty.
A few ppl have suggested bagging them up and selling or giving them away for free on FB. Because we want to get rid of them we'd just give them away for free.

Have you had much luck doing this? Especially if the stones are 'dirty'?

lol Tbh it will do nm what but i'm just trying to find out what to expect and I didn't wana spend hours bagging it up, dragging it out the front of the house etc just to end up having to pay to have them taken away in a years time etc.

Sometimes people will be willing to bag it up themselves.

There's a pretty healthy market out there for free or cheap materials. Someone will take it. It just depends how easy that is. You might get someone to come and dig it, bringing their own bags/tubs. It will go quicker and easier if you bag it up.

Depends on your area, in some places people will take any old crap!

Write potential uses for it in your advert, this might inspire someone to think they need it.

Dirty gravel, could be washed in a sieve and reused, or used to fill a disused pond, build up ground or increase soil drainage.

Advertise it for free, bring your own bags and dig it up for 14 days. If it dont go then bag it up and let people help themselves, if it still dont go either pay for the tip or someone to take it away.

Personally I may take a pre packed bag but I ain't digging it up for you.

Try the old shake it out trousers trick when out for a stroll, should only take you a few months.
